The Old Pueblo - Volume II: The New Pueblo

Land is only yours if you can keep it. Having wrested control of the Apacheria from the mighty Cochise and his many allies, a different fight begins to unfold south of the Gadsden Line. No longer on the offensive, Arizonans must now prove themselves capable of protecting their settlements, defending their forts, and maintaining their shipping routes if the Old Pueblo is to survive as anything more than a ghost town.

With the Civil War now a figment of the past and the mighty Cochise all but whipped, the focus of the territorial government has shifted swiftly to the unrealized dream of statehood. It’s a plan that begins and ends with convincing the railroad folks that the territory is no longer too lawless to warrant an investment of the kind of capital necessary to lay iron tracks across the Apacheria. So begins a pursuit of modernity so determined that anyone who dares to stand in the way will be eliminated with extreme prejudice, creating a ruthless process of jockeying for pole position so that, when the iron horse arrives and statehood soon follows, the proper party is in position to capitalize.

The New Pueblo is a sweeping Western which depicts the lives of many of Arizona’s earliest pioneers with the sort of raw authenticity that the time and territory demands.
