It Didn't Come Clean
Two years into the great war, Gus is in Pennsylvania, helping to turn back Lee’s second invasion of the North. Charlie is in Texas with the rest of Quantrill’s Raiders, carefully plotting their return to action following a disappointing winter. John is raiding alongside Forrest, running interference in middle Tennessee while Bragg struggles to hold onto Chattanooga. To a man, they feels trapped in a common struggle not just to survive the war, but to somehow emerge from it with their souls less tattered than the flag they fought for. A wiser man would have saved himself the trouble, knowing that stains don’t come clean when washed in the blood of a nation.
